Deputy Principal's Message
Dear Sacred Heart Community,
Year 5/6 Canberra Camp
Our Grade 5/6 students and staff arrived in Canberra safely after an early start Monday morning. The teachers are keeping up with some excellent photos of the trip - be sure to check out our school Facebook page for regular updates each day. Today's adventures include visiting the Royal Australian Mint and learning all about our democracy at the National Electoral Commission. Later in the week, they will visit Parliament House, the War Memorial and Australian Institute of Sport. We expect the buses to return to school close to regular pick up time this Friday. Families, please ensure you check PAM notifications for any changes to the travel and pick up times on Friday instead of calling the office.
Classroom Updates
While our senior students are away this week, upgrades continue in their learning spaces. New carpet is being installed in the SLA space, and new furniture will arrive and be installed in all 5/6 classrooms next Monday on our Pupil Free Day, so our senior students and staff can return from camp to a revitalised learning space, ready for their final few weeks together and for our official opening of the new building.
World Teachers' Day
Last Friday was World Teachers' Day - a moment to celebrate and acknowledge all of the special individuals who decide to dedicate their lives to educating and supporting our young people in their first 18 years.
The Executive Leadership of Sacred Heart acknowledged our magnificent staff by hosting a "grazing" lunch that allowed staff to feast as they moved between lessons, duties AND swimming bus trips! Best of all, our Grade 3/4 students penned special awards to every adult at the school, preparing a Certificate of Appreciation for them that acknowledged the qualities they believe we each show everyday. Mine is taking pride of place in my office - thank you!
Calendar Updates & Pupil Free Days
Please remember next Monday is a pupil free day and Tuesday is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. School will resume after the weekend for students on Wednesday November 6. Students will have an altered timetable next week to ensure specialist lessons continue to flow this term. All 3/4 classes will have PE lessons next week on Wednesday.
Tatura 150 Years
If you haven't noticed it yet, take a moment to check out our students' remarkable Tatura Post Cards, currently on display at various businesses in town as well as our entry foyer. Thank you to Foodworks, Ritchie's IGA and Tatura Hot Bread for your continued support of our school community with this initiative, and to Mr. McDonald for organising this community engagement.
Foundation 2025
Transition sessions for our 2025 Foundation students will begin on Wednesday November 13. This is an exciting time for our staff and students as we begin to meet the newest members of the Sacred Heart community.
Swimming Success
Well done to all students in years 1 to 6 who participated in our swimming week. This is an important part of our physical education program; it was good to see students paying close attention to the water safety information shared in their sessions, and especially pleasing to have consistently good reports from the Aquamoves instructors as to Sacred Heart's students' care during their time in the pool. Thank you also to Mr. Nilbett for his organisation of this program. Our Foundation students will attend a separate swimming program in Week 9, starting Monday December 2. Details have been shared with our Foundation families. If you are unsure of these arrangements, please contact the office.
God bless,
Felicity Bryant
