18 violin students do themselves proud in AMEB Exams
On Thursday 24th October, 18 students did violin exams at the Australian Music Examinations Board. The string teachers were so proud of each student for preparing all the required material and lifting their level of their playing in the process. It was great to see the children’s beaming faces when they returned to school proud of having achieved something significant. A positive exam experience! Congratulations for taking on this challenge:

Year 6 string students visit Year 1 Music classes
On Thursday 31st Oct, Daniel (6P) – violin and Angelina (6H) – cello will visit 1G and 1H in their Music classes to demonstrate their instruments and to talk about being part of the IPS string program. On Thursday 7th Nov, Angelina (6R) – violin and Collin (6H) – cello will visit 1R and 1L.
Hopefully many Year 1 students will feel encouraged to take on the challenge of playing a string instrument and join the Start Up Strings 2025 class.

Drawing competition for end of year poster and programme
The Start Up Strings, Corelli Strings, Orchestra, and “An Octave Above” are all busy preparing for the Summer Strings Celebration Concert on Tuesday 26th November at 6.30pm in the IPS School Hall.
This week in Corelli Strings and Orchestra, children were invited to submit drawings of their instrument or music that may be chosen for the artwork for the concert poster and/or the programme. Watch this space for a lovely poster coming soon . . .

IPS cello teacher Erna plays Back To The Future
One of our cello teachers, Erna, recently played in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s performance of “Back to the Future”. It was a fabulous performance!
