Recently, our Year 12 students not on the ATAR pathway had the opportunity to participate in a series of engaging masterclasses. These tutorials included practical skills such as “How to Back a Trailer.”

 

Pictured here are Dan Rae and Nick Nodari, who thoroughly enjoyed the session provided by Mr Andrew Devoy. The hands-on experience was both educational and enjoyable, equipping our students with valuable life skills.

Creative arts and design engagement day We are offering a creative arts and design engagement day on Tuesday 19 November for students in Years 9–11 to participate in hands-on workshops across the creative arts and design disciplines. Register your interest here.

 

Business case and law moot competitions Students can learn what it’s like to solve real business problems or argue cases in front of judges by participating in one of QUT’s high school competitions. Register to receive more information on BlueShift and the High school moot competition in 2025.

QUT’s innovative new curriculum, QUT You, will be embedded into undergraduate courses from 2025 to develop student's skills in areas such as critical and creative thinking, self-awareness and digital fluency—supporting them to understand global and social concepts and how these relate to the individual and their role in the local and global community. Read more.

 

Year 12 Early Offer Scheme – upcoming key dates

The Year 12 Early Offer Scheme can provide students with an offer to study at QUT on their last day of Year 12. More than 80 single and double degrees are included in the scheme. 

 

Key dates:  

  • 16 October: students need to have completed their QTAC application, listing an eligible course in their top three preferences. Invitations to apply for the scheme will then be sent to these students until 18 October. 
  • 31 October: final date to submit supporting documentation.  
  • 8 November: students who are approved for an early offer receive email notification. 
  • 12 November: final date to reorder preferences to ensure an eligible course is listed as their first preference. 
  • 15 November: QUT early offers released via QTAC. 

Students who are unable to upload their documentation by 31 October can be considered for an early offer for the same courses on 25 November.

Aspiring Teachers’ Grant

Interested in a Teaching Career? Apply for the Aspiring Teacher Grant! 

 

Are you in Year 12 and thinking about a career in teaching? The Aspiring Teacher Grant offers financial support for high-achieving students who plan to study an undergraduate teaching degree in Queensland. This grant provides a lump sum to help with study expenses, making it easier to focus on your education. 

 

To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. In return, recipients usually commit to teaching in a Queensland state school after graduation, often in regional or remote areas.

Experience a day in the life of a health professional through Mater Education.

Are you a student in Years 10-12 and interested in pursuing a career in healthcare? 

Be immersed in a real hospital environment and get hands-on experience at a one- or two-day High School Health Adventure program.

QUT Excellence Scholarship (Creative Arts)

Students can put a creative arts course as the first preference on their QTAC application to be automatically considered for a scholarship valued at $20,000. Students will be assessed based on academic and creative excellence during school studies.
