Celebrating Success at the DATTA QLD Student Subject Awards

We are delighted to announce the remarkable achievements of our Design and Technology students in the prestigious Design and Technology Teachers Association (DATTA) competition. This annual event recognises the outstanding work of students across Queensland in Design and Technologies subjects. The top three awardees from each of the seven educational regions compete for the honour of being the overall state winner.

This year, we are proud to celebrate Cade Kelly (Year 9 Design) and Louie Di Lucchio (Year 12 Design) as Regional Winners. Their dedication and creativity have shone brightly, earning them this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to Cade and Louie for their exceptional work throughout the year!

The DATTA QLD Student Subject Awards received an impressive number of submissions, showcasing the high quality and innovative spirit of students statewide. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Gray for his commitment to nominating these students. His dedication to providing enriching learning experiences and fostering a passion for lifelong learning has made a significant impact, as reflected in the outstanding work submitted this year.

We are incredibly proud of Cade and Louie’s achievements and look forward to seeing more inspiring projects from our talented students in the future.

Construction Immersion Program: A Year of Remarkable Achievements

The Construction Immersion program remains a vital part of our Vocational Education and Training, expertly led by Mr Ben Cribb, a fully qualified builder. This year, under his mentorship, Year 11 students have successfully completed numerous community projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in construction.

Throughout the year, the students have undertaken a variety of tasks. They crafted thirteen tables for student use during lunch and in the Boarding precinct, completed a fencing project at a nearby College house, and built two substantial garden sheds that are highly sort after. More recently, they produced several dry bar tables for the pool canteen, providing much-needed outdoor furniture to accommodate the growing number of students who enjoy breakfast at the facility each morning.

Ms. Josie Loucas has expressed her gratitude, and it’s clear that the Immersion students have been well-rewarded with food vouchers for their hard work. A special thank you goes to Mr. Ben Cribb for his unwavering guidance and support of the Marist Community.

The achievements of the Construction Immersion students this year have been outstanding, and they are already planning more significant projects for the College in the coming year.
