McClelland College & CS in Schools Partnership: Leading the Way in Technology and STEM Education
McClelland College has been at the forefront of technology and STEM education as one of the first schools to partner with CS in Schools and as a participant in the pilot of Amazon's immersion program. This partnership further cements McClelland's commitment to providing students with innovative, industry-aligned experiences that prepare them for future careers.
As part of our collaboration, select students recently attended an exclusive Amazon Immersion Day at Amazon’s head office. This immersive experience featured workshops focused on design cycle thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, with students receiving hands-on mentorship from Amazon employees. The day’s events inspired our students, showing them the wide range of opportunities within the tech sector and helping them connect classroom concepts with real-world applications.
To add to the excitement, Dr. Matt Agnew (Scientist and Edutainer) and the Herald Sun visited McClelland College to document this unique experience, capturing students' enthusiasm and sharing stories. Our students had the opportunity to showcase their skills and discuss how their involvement with Amazon and CS in Schools has inspired them to consider careers in STEM.
In addition to these valuable learning opportunities, our partnership with CS in Schools also opens doors for our Year 12 students to apply for scholarships, which include industry connections, job placements, and internships. In addition, students get $ 7,000 per year to help them with further education expenses. This initiative fosters strong industry ties, providing our students with the skills, connections, and support they need to succeed in competitive fields.
McClelland College’s involvement in these programs underscores our leading edge in STEM education, technology, and career readiness. We are grateful for the continued support of CS in Schools and Amazon, and we are excited to watch our students grow and thrive through these unique partnerships.
