Senior School House Dinners
In Week 1 of term, students and staff gathered at the Bendigo Club and the All Seasons Conservatory for the cherished tradition of House Dinners.
From a thrilling Murder Mystery to dazzling Hollywood, enchanting Wonderland to glamorous Las Vegas, this year's House Dinners were filled with creativity and excitement. Students dedicated time and energy to meticulously plan each detail, from decorations to speeches and captivating performances from every year level.
Each House Dinner was a night to remember, as students and staff from all year levels came together to celebrate as a unified House community. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in organising these spectacular events, guided by the Heads of House and House Captains, with invaluable support from the Events and Tech Team.
Alongside the student House Dinners, a parent House Dinner was also held for each House (the Jenkin Parent Dinner is featured below). Thank you to the parents who organised and ran these wonderful events.

It's in the Bag 2024
It’s that time of year again! GCAG is once again asking for your support and donations for the ‘It’s in the Bag’ drive! This charity drive aims to support victim-survivors fleeing domestic violence around the country with hygiene and personal care products this Christmas. GCAG is collecting pre-loved bags (such as handbags, purses, backpacks and duffel bags) and personal care items (like shampoo, conditioner, lotions and skincare) to make our bags this year.
To make this a little easier, we have broken collection targets into Houses as follows:
- Aherne: Oral care and period products
- Frew: Bath and shower products
- Jenkin: Small gift items
- Jones: Teen/luxury items
- Millward: Stationery
- Riley: Parent and baby items
- All Houses: Pre-loved (but in good condition!) bags
On top of the essentials, it would be amazing to receive 'luxury' donations to help make Christmas a little more special this year (e.g. makeup, hair ties, earphones).
While we may not be able to easily eliminate the root causes of domestic violence, we can help to support those escaping it. While you may not see the direct impact of your generous donations, it does make a difference, as shown in these testimonials.
All items can be dropped off at Heads of House offices or Morey Reception until Friday 22 November.
RUOK Day? lolly jar competition
Congratulations to Oliver Moloney (9 Millward) on winning the lolly jar competition!
Thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause, which raised over $150 to donate to Headspace Bendigo.
Senior School Colour Run
On Wednesday 6 November during Co-Connect time, Londonderry Oval will be a blaze of colour as Girton Grammar holds its inaugural Colour Run! This event will be a fun way for students in Years 7 to 10 to celebrate the end of the 2024 academic year, with the added benefit of raising money for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
What is the Colour Run?
Participation in the Colour Run is free, with no obligation to raise money; however, we encourage all participating students to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.
To allow your child to participate, please check Operoo for the permission form and indicate whether you grant permission for your child to:
- participate in the school’s Colour Run, and
- fundraise for the World Wildlife Fund.
If yes to both, your child will be able to set up their own fundraising profile at school in House Assembly. This will generate an individual QR code they can share with family and friends to collect donations.
Students not granted permission to be involved in the Colour Run will be supervised in the Girton Grammar Library, undertaking private study.
Logistics on the day
Students will assemble in the school gymnasium and will be running in year-level groups around Londonderry Oval, supervised by Girton staff. The colouring will be done by Girton staff and is made from cornflour with a colour additive comprising of food-grade dye.
Each year level will have approximately 10 minutes to be involved in the run. For the remainder of the time, they will be spectating the other year levels or involved in organised activities conducted in the gym.
On the day, participating students will need a plain white t-shirt to wear during the Colour Run (this can be an old t-shirt). This can be worn under their Girton PE uniform. If you have any queries, please visit the School Fun Run website. We look forward to a fun and colourful day!
Year 9 Achieve
The Year 9 Achieve students are currently studying a unit of work on health, encompassing both physical and mental health and wellbeing. Students participated in yoga, self-defence and sleep hygiene workshops. They were also afforded the opportunity to undertake First Aid Training, including CPR and BELS (Basic Emergency Life Support). All participating students will be issued with a current First Aid Certificate, a wonderful addition to their CV!
