Celebrating 50 Years of Memories: The Class of 1974 Reunion
The much-awaited day finally arrived as the graduates of the Class of 1974 reunited to celebrate their 50th reunion on Friday 20 September. It was a joyous occasion as the former classmates embarked on a nostalgic journey, reminiscing about their school days and creating new memories to cherish.
The day kicked off with a morning tea in the d’Helin Building, where Dr Emma O’Rielly gave a warm welcome. This was followed by a school tour led by Mr Don Thompson, where laughter echoed through the hallways as old stories were shared. Memories of school plays, sporting triumphs and classroom shenanigans resurfaced, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth and camaraderie.
After a delightful morning at Girton, the group ventured to the picturesque Balgownie Winery for lunch. Surrounded by vineyards and good company, the Class of 1974 celebrated enduring friendships and unforgettable experiences that have stood the test of time. As the day came to a close, it was evident that the bond shared by these Old Girtonians was as strong as ever. The reunion served as a reminder that the connections forged during school years are timeless, and that the doors of Girton are always open to welcome back this lively and friendly group.
