Grade 5&6 Camp

Camp Wilkin, Anglesea

The Grade 5s and 6s attended the annual event at Camp Wilkin from Tuesday 6 August to Friday 9 August. The purpose of this camp is to allow students to develop independence, life skills, and social skills away from familiar school and home environments. It also allows students to discover new things for themselves, through participation in hands-on activities.

They had a great time participating in many activities including canoeing, archery, low ropes, bush cooking, and climbing wall. Thank God for the fantastic weather, safety, and lots of fun and fellowship. It will be a wonderful experience and something that they will remember for years to come.

Here are some of the participants' recounts of their experiences:

This year, the Grade 5s and 6s went to camp on 6-9 August.  Camp Wilkin was an exhilarating experience that pushed us to do our best while having fun.  From low ropes to rock-climbing, and canoeing to damper cooking, we experienced moments we will never forget.  On top of this, the food was top-tier!  A definite highlight was the night walk to the forest (only a few kilometers away), which exposed us to a different side of nature which blew us away!  How amazing is it that God made all the hundreds of billions of stars in the heavens?  This year’s camp helped us appreciate more of God’s creation, build friendships, learn new skills, face our fears, and create new memories.

You might have known that the Grade 5 and 6 students went on camp last week. Camp is a place of bonding, fun activities, and emotions. It encourages you to give everything a go, so you leave with no regrets. The camp we attended was Camp Wilkin. There were several activities such as the flying fox, bush cooking, canoeing, wall climbing, and many more. When there was a free time, students could choose from the games room, beach volleyball, basketball, or the playground.

The food at the camp was a whole different world! It was absolutely scrumptious, delicious, and mouth-watering in a few words. Bursting with flavour, the food enriched all the students' and teachers' taste buds.

At the end of the day, we settled into our beds. If someone was emotional, there were caring teachers ready to help. At the end of the camp, everyone was sad to go but excited to see their families again and tell them about their stay at the camp. Camp Wilkin was truly amazing, one of the most exhilarating experiences of our lives. This camp was everything and more.

In Week 4 the Grade 5 and 6 students went to Camp Wilkin, Anglesea for 4 days. On the first day, we had a fun and exciting day at the beach. We played games like ‘Who can build the biggest sandcastle?’ or ‘Fill up the bucket with water!’. We went on a night walk and did activities such as flying fox, rock climbing, canoeing, bush cooking, low ropes and archery. For movie night we watch 'The Lion King'. On the last day, we played an amazing race. We had so much fun and made lots of great memories (our favourite one was waking up to Miss Melhem singing for us (to wake up)).
