Poverty

In Gravitate the hot topic we are discussing is poverty and how we as Christians can respond to the issue ethically.

Poverty is still a big problem worldwide. It’s not just about lack of money, it’s also about being left out and not having chances to improve your life. Even though some places have made progress, many people are still stuck in tough situations (because of poverty). To improve things, we need to work together to give people more opportunities and support, like better education and jobs. With everyone’s help, we can create a fairer world where everyone has a shot at a better life. In Christianity, poverty is seen as a call to compassion and justice. Christians believe in helping those in need because everyone is valued in God’s eyes. Jesus taught us to love others and to care for the poor. It’s about not just giving charity, but also working to change systems that keep people poor. So, Christians often support initiatives that aid the poor and advocate for fairness in society.

We want people to become aware of the current poverty situation, as well as have empathy towards individuals who are struggling with the issue, and to help or assist in any way they can.

Jesus quotes in the bible “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh”. Jesus says that although we go through trials, Jesus will never forget us, he promises that those who weep now will laugh later.
