Term 3 - Week 1
Welcome to Semester 2 and Term 3, a term we look forward to with great excitement and anticipation.
Tomorrow we welcome our grandparents and grandfriends to St Nicholas School to acknowledge the role they play in our lives.
“There is nothing more wonderful than the love and guidance a grandparent can give his or her grandchild”
(Edward Fays)
Grandparents Day is a highlight of the school year and is eagerly marked on the calendar by both our school and families.
Our students are incredibly excited to spend time with their grandparents tomorrow and showcase some of their learning. Due to the weather, our day has been adjusted to ensure the comfort and safety of our visitors, though this will not dampen the atmosphere.

Professional Learning for Staff
Our staff commenced Term 3 with two days of Professional Learning. Our learning was based on preparing and implementing the new curriculum and aligning this work to our school improvement platform which is based on the research of Lyn Sharratt.
One of the many strengths of Sharratt’s 14 is parameters, is the common language it provides our staff and students. For this reason it was wonderful to watch our Education Assistants join their grade teams to build their own capacity leading to higher functioning teams.
NAIDOC Week
Each year NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia to acknowledge the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures, histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.
At St Nicholas we will hold our celebrations next week. In line with this year's theme, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud” Mr French has coordinated a week of learning, acknowledging and celebrating. Please click on the link to access our exciting timetable.
Have a great week,
