Book Week 2024
Each year since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together to celebrate books through Children's Book Week. During this time schools and libraries celebrate books and Australian authors and illustrators.
This year's theme is Reading is Magic.
Book Week Parade
Along with the many and varied Book Week activities that we will do, this year we will celebrate with a Book Week Parade at our school assembly on Monday 19th August at 9:00 am.
On this day children are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character or as a character matching the theme. If your child's costume is not suitable to wear all day please send along some other clothes and shoes they can change into after the parade.
A few ideas for Book Week costumes:
- Mythical creatures
- Harry Potter characters
- Fairy tales or nursery rhymes
- Pirates
- Alice in Wonderland
- Wizard of Oz
- Dr Seuss stories
- Roald Dahl characters
- Magicians
- Mr Men and Little Miss Characters
Book Week Performance
In keeping with the theme of magic we will enjoy a magic show performed by Tricky Nick the Magician on Wednesday 21st August.
Happy reading!
