Green and Gold Day
It was great to see the Olympic spirit on show at Corpus Christi last week. The students came in a range of outfits to celebrate Green and Gold Day.
A special event on Green and Gold Day was the sharing of an Olympic torch from the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Isla’s grandfather Andrew visited to share the story of Isla’s Great Grandfather who participated in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Tony Benson carried the Olympic torch in the Ballarat section of the year 2000 torch relay around Australia. Our students were very interested to hear the story of Tony, his training and see photos and sports shoes worn at the Olympics.
Across the communities, there were many learning opportunities planned. Students created their own Olympic mascots and medals. There were also Olympic sports played in some communities. Well done to everyone in making the day fun and displaying the Olympic Spirit!
