Central Victorian Indigenous Careers Expo

On Friday 2nd August, Mitch, Darcey and Kaelan attended the Central Victorian Indigenous Careers Expo at Ulumbarra Theatre hosted and organised by Bendigo Senior Secondary College.

The day started with a smoking ceremony, Welcome to Country and performance by Mitch Tambo. Mitch's performance included the inspiring story of his life; the decisions he made, the paths he followed, and the way he drew and continues to draw strength from his ancestors and culture.

Kaelan said he liked Mitch's music and speech because, 'He explained it well and it was great advice. I took it all in.' Darcey's takeaway from Mitch Tambo was to listen to your inner-self.

After lunch the students actively explored a range of post-secondary school training, TAFE and university providers, businesses and career pathways stalls, which was a highlight for Mitch.

We could not be more proud of the way the boys displayed our school values throughout the day. Sincere thanks to Christine Carty for coordinating the excursion and transporting students, to Ms Doller for attending and to BSSC for organising and hosting the event.
