Drama

Year 8 Drama students have been developing Visual Theatre pieces, based on Shaun Tan’s, ‘The Arrival’. Students have been involved in movement workshops and have explored using symbol to create pieces based on belonging, family and curiosity.

Irish Dancing (Students and Adults)

Irish dancing has commenced on Tuesday afternoons 3:15pm-4:00pm in the Drama Room.

 

For Term 3, we will be offering an Adult’s Irish Dancing class for staff and parents. We have commenced classes on Wednesday afternoons 3:15pm-4:00pm in the Drama room.

Dance Troupe

Dance Troupe will be rehearsing every Monday morning in the Drama room, 7:00am-8:00am, which will include experienced dancers from Year 5 upward.

On the Green

We are pleased to announce that all 2024 Musical Cast are invited to view an open rehearsal and question/answer session with Kate Miller-Heidke on Sunday 28 July before her performance at 'On the Green'.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to view the work of an industry professional and engage in meaningful conversation.

Opus 3

We are excited to announce that our Opus 3 concert will be held this year at St Andrew’s Uniting Church, 299 Ann St, on Saturday 17 August, commencing at 7:00pm. This event is for Secondary musicians only. 

 

A rehearsal will be held at St Andrew’s on Friday 16 August from 3:30pm to 6:00pm in the following order: 

 

3:30pm Canzona  

3:50pm Avanti 

4:10pm Ciao Bella 

4:30pm Symphonic Winds 

4:50pm Percussion Ensemble 

5:10pm Paganini Strings 

5:30pm Viotti Strings 

5:50pm Allegria Chamber Strings 

 

Students will be transported to St Andrew’s after school and will travel back to Clayfield College with staff on the train. If any student wishes to be collected at St. Andrew’s, parents must fill in a permission form, available in the following link: 

 

AMEB Results

Congratulations to Hailyn Kim (Year 2) who was awarded a High Distinction (A+) for her recent Violin Preliminary Repertoire exam, and to Haiden Kim (Year 4) who was awarded an A for his recent Violin Grade 2 Repertoire exam. 

Music at Head of School-led Tours

We extend our gratitude to the Primary and Secondary string players for their contribution of background music during our tours this week, enhancing the atmosphere as families gather and await the commencement of events. 

Save the Date: Combined Junior Music Festival

All Year 5 and 6 Primary musicians (and Year 4 musicians in Corelli Strings) will travel to Somerville House on Tuesday 13 August to participate in the annual Combined Junior Music Festival alongside students from Brisbane Boys’ College. This event will take place during the day, and further details will be provided soon.
