Brain Olympia Finals
We were very proud to have one Brain Olympia team successfully qualify for the finals held in Gunnedah on Wednesday. The children were amazing and participated in all elements of the competition with enthusiasm; more importantly as a great team supporting each other.
Our ‘proud’ levels went off the chart when we placed 2nd of the nine finalist teams in our division - this of course equates to 2nd of all primary schools who participated in Brain Olympia in the Diocese! This is the best result we have ever had in the Brain Olympia competition.
Congratulations to all the children who participated in this year's competition - your commitment to coaching sessions (some of which was in your lunch breaks) and enthusiasm to represent our school proudly was outstanding.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you and cannot emphasise enough how proud I am, as is the whole school community. Well done everyone!

On the 11th of September team orange competed in the Brain Olympia finals, in Gunnedah!
There were 9 teams in total and we were competing against 5 very bright other teams in the large schools category. There was also a small schools category which was won by Walcha.
In our team we had Angus, Alice, Harriet, Josh, Josie, Macie, Phoebe and Tilly. Together we got 98 points, coming in second place to St Philomenas, Moree who got 101.5. Our strengths were Famous People and Places, HSIE, Mathematics, Drama and Public Speaking. Thanks to Angus and his amazing kangaroo jumps we got 16 out of 20 for Public Speaking.
Thank you to our parents, teachers and teammates for supporting us and allowing us to get to the next level with their help! Big thank you to Mrs Little for coaching us and giving up her time to train us and make sure we had the best chance of doing well.
At the end of the day it was an amazing experience and we are very proud second place holders; the best that St Joseph’s has ever performed. We are looking forward to competing again next year.
