Art Competitions Open in 2024

Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition 2024

The following Brighton Primary School students have entered artwork in the Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition 2024: Jack Tambanis, Poppy Todman, Dakota Kundevska and Ava Bennett. 

The theme this year is 'How I see the World'. 

The exhibition will be held at the Bayside City Council Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham  from Monday 29 July - Thursday 10 October. Artwork can be viewed Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.00pm.

If you’re in the area, please be sure to pop in and have a look at the students’ creations.

SCHOOLS TREE DAY COMPETITION

Calling all young nature enthusiasts! Are you ready to unleash your creativity and become a guardian of the environment? 

Imagine and craft your very own Nature Guardian. Will it be a mighty Tree Guardian, a sneaky Shrub Guardian, or a vibrant Grass Guardian? The choice is yours!

Let your imagination run wild as you bring your guardian to life using any materials you like. From drawings to clay sculptures, cosplay outfits to sewing creations, the possibilities are endless!

Melbourne Royal Art, Craft and Cookery Competition - Enter now on QKR!

The Melbourne Royal Art, Craft & Cookery Competition enables students the opportunity to showcase their creativity at the Melbourne Royal Show, held during the September school holidays at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale. Entries will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people visiting the Show.

Brighton Primary School is facilitating student entries into the junior competition. Some of the junior categories available to enter this year are:

• Painting (Prep to Grade 2), (Grades 3 and 4), (Grades 5 and 6)
• Drawing (Prep to Grade 2), (Grades 3 and 4), (Grades 5 and 6)

Entry is $8 per item.  

If you would like to enter an item, please ensure your artwork is delivered to Miss Narelle (Visual Arts teacher) who will deliver your artwork to the showgrounds on your behalf, and return it after the exhibition.

Wild At Art

Wild At Art is Australia’s biggest wildlife art competition for children aged 5-12. From Monday, 17 June to Monday 12 August, children from across the country are invited to create an original artwork of one of Australia's many threatened native animals or plants, along with a short written component on their chosen threatened species.

Research some of the threatened animals and plants in Australia, then choose one to represent in your artwork!

You may decide to look for a species that’s threatened in your area, or one that used to live in your area but is now extinct there. Or you may decide to choose one that lives further away, but is very interesting to you. The only rule is that your chosen species must be native to Australia (i.e. it occurs here naturally and has not been introduced).

Create your own drawing, painting or mixed media (such as collage) work that interprets your chosen animal or plant.

OPTIKA 2024 PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD

OptiKA is a photography award inviting artists of all skill levels and ages to capture and interpret a theme through their lenses.

The 2024 theme is "Inspiration: What ignites your passion?" Show what drives your creativity and imagination.

The Youth Open Entry Award (under 16 years) prize is valued at $500.
