At Mackellar Primary School term 3 has seen the launch of a Visual Art Show preparation, where all students are creating two artworks each based around famous art styles, artists, authors and personal expression.
As well as appropriating art work of other artists, students are focused on developing and extending their knowledge of the colour theory, line and making marks on a page to create the artworks.
Students will work on their examples and final pieces in their visual art sessions, keeping the final art work private to other year levels, ready for the art show reveal. At the art show on October 24, at 4.30pm -7.30pm, parents will view the art and have the opportunity, as part of our fund raiser to purchase the art piece. If not purchased at the fund raiser, all art works will be sent home at the end of 2025.
Further information will be sent to families in the coming weeks.
Recently, in preparedness for the art show, we were fortunate to have Aunty Lee-Ann Clarke work with three of our Koorie students in a Koorie art workshop, they were Mia grade 5, Aurora Prep A and Enesiya Grade 6.
Copies of last year’s finalists of the production competition ‘Great Southern Land’ will also be displayed in the gym so that families can look at them in more detail. We will be having a guest artist who is a past Mackellar student and is studying Animation and Manga as well as community artists showcase their work.
Finally, the Grade 1 want to remind you to bring an art smock to school please.
