Celebrations of learning at Lucas Primary School

PREP in Term 3

This term, our prep students have celebrated what has been their most anticipated day for the year… 100 days of school! We are always blown away by the effort families and carers put into costumes for their children.

Since the first day of school, we have been counting each day in our Numeracy lessons. We have represented each number in a range of ways to help our students learn place value.  Students have learnt about bundling, using a place value chart and skip counting by 10s.

On our 100th day, students drew a picture of themselves as a 100 year old, wrote about what they would be like if they were 100 years old and celebrated with many exciting activities.

Congratulations to all of our Preps on their achievements this year!

JAPANESE in Term 3

In Term 3, Year 5/6 students learn to talk about Japanese houses. Students were introduced to 11 words such as bedroom and toilet and learned how to introduce the facilities in Japanese. They will learn how to describe the facilities in Japanese and how to visit a Japanese house with good manners. Students will create their future house in Japanese as the writing and speaking assignment at the end of Term 3.

Year 3/4 students have been learning to talk about shopping in Japanese. All students were introduced to 8 stationery items in Japanese and learned how to order them in Japanese. Some classes were introduced how to act like an anime voice actor and recorded their voices to order the stationery items. They will learn how to use Japanese money as well. All students will be able to do a short role play in a shopping situation at the end of Term 3.
