PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION DAY

Friday 2nd August was Principal's Appreciation Day. We spent the day celebrating and honouring our principal, Mrs Rachel Baker. Her leadership has been instrumental in creating a positive and inclusive environment where students and staff feel valued and supported. Her dedication to ensuring that every child thrives academically and personally is a testament to her passion for education and her belief in the potential of every student.

The school took the opportunity to show our appreciation for Mrs. Baker during a special assembly, where each class presented her with unique awards, videos, poems, and a showgroup performance. We spent the day reminding Mrs. Baker how much she is appreciated by the entire St Aidan’s community!

BULLYING NO WAY: NATIONA WEEK OF ACTION

Bullying No Way: National Week of Action runs from 12th-16th August. This nationwide initiative is an opportunity for schools across Australia to stand against bullying by creating safe and supportive learning environments for all students. The theme for 2024 is "Everyone Belongs". This powerful message reminds us that every student deserves to feel valued, included, and safe within our school community. It emphasises the importance of acceptance, understanding, and kindness, encouraging us all to ensure that no one feels left out.

On Friday 16th August, students are invited to wear a touch of purple to show their support. Purple symbolises unity and a commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels respected and included. The day will include activities centred around the themes of belonging and encourage students to practise kindness and inclusivity in their daily lives.

ST AIDAN'S OLYMPICS

On Thursday 8 August, the children attended St Aidan’s Olympics. We started the Opening Ceremony with the Acknowledgement of Country. All of the countries paraded around the playground whilst the National Anthem for the different countries was playing in the background. We had so much fun cheering and giving high fives to all the athletes. Greece started the ceremony showing everybody their Greek attire. All the other countries followed them showing off their wonderful outfits. It was a marvellous Opening Ceremony and a great way to start the day before competing in all the Olympic activities.

All the athletes enjoyed participating in a range of activities which included Hula-hooping, Shot Put with bean bags, Tug of War, Which Paper Aeroplane can Fly the Furthest?, Name the Country, Running Races, Egg and Spoon Races and Olympic Kahoot. The top three athletes in each activity received a gold, silver or bronze medal sticker.

We finished the event with a Closing Ceremony and the winning country was announced - Germany! All athletes made their country proud and everybody had lots of fun competing and winning medals at the St Aidan’s Olympics. Thank you to Miss Siapkas, Mrs Gerrard and all the teachers for making this day unforgettable. Congrats to Germany for bringing home glory to their country!
