Dear Parents,
At St Aidan's we are thankful for so many things. The students love ending each day in class with their GRATITUDE JOURNALS as gratitude helps us to develop a positive mindset.
Some of the benefits that practicing gratitude can bring are:
Practicing gratitude can be as simple as keeping a gratitude journal, saying thank you more often, or taking time to reflect on the positive aspects of your life.
At the end of each day students have begun sharing with the community what they are thankful for. Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can have a significant impact on our well-being and quality of life.
Last week we had our Goal Setting Meetings. Thank you to all parents for attending. Your role as first educator of your child is extremely important and we work in partnership with you to educate your child and develop them as a whole person. Teachers appreciated you meeting with them and also took onboard any feedback that was given to help support your child and their learning.
Students in Year 3 and Year 5 completed the National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy in Term 1. We are so proud of their achievements. This is one form of data that is collected amongst other formal and school based data that we use to inform our teaching and learning programs to support our students to achieve curriculum outcomes.
This years results showed St Aidan's performing in the top 15 Catholic Schools in the state in the areas of Writing, Reading and Grammar and Punctuation. Our Spelling and Numeracy reslults also showed an upward trend with positive growth.
Fr Allan celebrated his 12th Anniversary of his ordination last Sunday. We are very thankful that we have Fr Allan as our Parish Priest as he brings so much love, faith and hope to the St Aidan's Community.
On the 4th of August our Showgroup students were lucky enough to perform at the Sydney Opera House in the Sydney Dance Eisteddfod. The students absolutely shone on stage. We were so proud of them. Congratulations to our Senior Girls Showgroup who received a Highly Commended Award. A HUGE thankyou to our dance teacher Miss Hinds for her amazing choreography and to Miss Siapkas for helping to coordinate costumes and logistics.
Over the last two Mondays we were lucky enough to have Mr Lovell (Parent of Elisabeth, Oliver and Noah) talk to our students with regard to Cyber Safety. Mr Lovell works in Cyber Security and presents to many audiences with regard to the Cyber World. He gave an engaging presentation to the students which included insights into the digital world. Mr Lovell taught the students of the 'do's' and 'don'ts' when using devices and how to stay safe on the internet. It is important to be aware of what your child is doing on the internet and checking that you have also used age appropriate blocks to keep them safe.
This term each class is looking forward to inviting our parents and carers into the classroom for Class Prayer. Please see the REC section of this Newsletter for dates for your child's class.
We are looking forward to our annual Grandparents Day. Please save the date:
Tuesday 5th November.
The St Aidan's Community will be celebrating Father's Day on Monday 2nd September. The day will begin with a Father's Day breakfast from 7.45am and Year 1 will share a tribute to our 'DADS'. This will then be followed by 'Open Classrooms' and our annual Mission Day. On this day the students can wear muffty clothes with their favourite football jersey. Students received a paper note last week with all of the details. Thank you in advance for all of your generous donations to make Mission Day possible. We are looking forward to a fun filled day.
God bless.
