Parents/Guardians,
I would like to welcome everyone back to school, especially students and families who have just started their time with us at at Rochester Primary School. I hope everyone had the opportunity to relax and has returned refreshed and ready for the busy term ahead. A Shout out to our Grade 5/6 kids who have been proudly displaying our school values of 'Respect, Resilience & Responsibility' throughout their time at the Cottage by the Sea camp in Queenscliff this week. I have no doubt the weather may have tested their 'resilience' during the water activities.
State Cross Country
Good luck to Orly who competes at the State cross country event at the Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen today (Thursday).
School Cleaners
This week we welcome Johnny and his cleaning team from JV Property Services who will be our regular cleaners moving forward. We thank Kendale cleaners for their support of Rochester Primary school and flexibility over the last 3 years especially during the flood and throughout our recovery.

Families will be encouraged to sell and purchase tickets. All funds raised will go towards supporting students, programs and activities at our school.
Elmore Field Days:
Once again we will support the Elmore field Days as one of our major fundraisers and have 7 shifts to fill. Please contact the office if you or a friend, grandparent or neighbour is able to help us out. The Field Days are on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd of October (During the school holidays). The jobs could include- food production, Food preparation, delivering, serving, cleaning, dish washing, or stationed in the main shed or food van. No experience required. Please note the shifts can be split into half day sessions if that helps.
NAPLAN Results
On Friday families who have children in grades 3 and 5 will receive their NAPLAN results in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and Numeracy, measured against national benchmarks. NAPLAN tests are a snapshot and just one form of assessment used by our school. It does not replace or override the extensive ongoing assessments our grade 3 and 5 teachers collect to ascertain student performance and inform lesson planning. In the coming weeks staff will look at and discuss these results and look at areas we can celebrate and identify areas which may require extra attention in our planning or teaching.
XUNO - Not receiving XUNO messages?
If you are not receiving email notifications and messages or have trouble logging in to XUNO, there is a very big chance there is an issue with the email we have recorded on the school system or your password needs resetting. Please contact the office to have this checked and fixed.
