Garden Club News

The sun shone as we pulled out weeds and sprinkled some parsley seeds around.

Parsley is a fabulous addition to the vegetable garden as it has long tap roots to break up the soil and is beneficial to many insects such as ladybirds, lacewing larvae and a range of pollinators.

Being high in iron, calcium and vitamins, parsley is useful in many dishes or as an edible garnish.  As the parsley grows, we will get to snack on it, observe what insects use it and finally, as it dries out over summer, we will collect the seeds to begin the process again.
