From the Principal

Rudy Vail

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Mission of the Catholic Church in Primary Education at OLHC

The mission of the Catholic Church plays a vital role in the holistic education of primary school students at Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC). Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, our educational approach nurtures not only academic excellence but also spiritual growth, fostering a deep sense of faith and community among our students.

At OLHC, the celebration of sacraments is central to our faith journey. These sacraments are significant milestones in the lives of our students, marking their growing relationship with God. In Grade 4, children make their Reconciliation, experiencing the profound grace of forgiveness and the importance of seeking and granting mercy. In Grade 5, they receive their First Eucharist, where they partake in the body and blood of Christ, deepening their unity with Jesus and the Church community. Finally, in Grade 6, students celebrate their Confirmation, receiving the Holy Spirit and embracing their role as mature members of the Catholic faith.

These sacramental celebrations are not mere rituals but pivotal experiences that shape our students' identities as Catholics. They are moments of profound grace that reinforce the values of faith, hope, and love, guiding them through life's challenges and triumphs.

Bishop Terry Curtin visited our Year 6 students yesterday, as they prepare for their Confirmation. During his visit, he engaged with the students, asking insightful questions and discussing the significance of Confirmation in their faith journey. Bishop Curtin emphasised the deep spiritual transformation and strengthened commitment to the Church that Confirmation brings. His visit provided a personal connection to the broader Catholic community, highlighting the Church's support and guidance. By meeting the candidates, the Bishop underscored the importance of this sacrament in affirming their faith and readiness to embrace their roles as mature members of the Church.

At OLHC, we are committed to living out the mission of the Catholic Church in every aspect of our students' education, ensuring they grow academically, spiritually, and morally, rooted in the values of our faith.

Kind regards,
