A big thank you to all the students and parents who have supported the library throughout the year. As the school year comes to an end, I would like to share some of this year’s highlights.
Author visits: Our author visits with Louise Park, Danielle Binks and George Ivanoff made reading and writing come alive and inspired students to write and illustrate stories in new ways.
Premiers Reading Challenge: Our school total for 2025 was a fantastic 11,394 books.
Book Week – This year’s Book Week theme, Book an Adventure, sparked imagination across our school community.
Book Parade
Students embraced the spirit of storytelling by dressing up and joining our vibrant book parade.
Scholastic Book Fair
We were thrilled to welcome back our annual Scholastic Book Fair, giving students and families the chance to explore new titles and take home some exciting reads.
CARP Productions
Our junior school students were treated to a fantastic performance by CARP Productions, bringing the CBCA 2025 Shortlisted books to life in a fun and memorable way.
Creative Writing Competition
Our creative writing competition showcased the talent and creativity of our budding authors across all year levels.
Altogether, Book Week was a wonderful celebration of reading, creativity, and adventure!
Scholastic Book Club – We had 7 issues of our catalogue this year and we have had an amazing response. Our school has collected many rewards points from these book orders, which I’ve proudly turned into exciting new reads for our students. Make sure to check out the ‘new books’ display at the beginning of 2026 for the latest purchases.

Big Summer Read
The Big Summer Read is an annual summer reading campaign for young people aged 0-18. It is a collaborative initiative happening at all public libraries across Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales. It has been developed to raise awareness and ensure all children have access to the resources they need to maintain literacy skills over the summer school holidays. It encourages children to read for pleasure and aims to address the 'summer slide'. This refers to the loss of literacy experienced over the long summer break if children are not exposed to books or reading.

Article - With the national social media ban in effect, how can we encourage children and teens to get back into reading?
Restrictions on social media use for Australian children under 16 provide an opportunity to reengage children and teens with reading in their leisure time. So how can we support them to bring books back into their daily lives?

Thankyou and Farewell
I would like to say thank you to the LPPS community for a wonderful year in our school library. It has been an absolute joy to spend time among the shelves, sharing stories, and helping students discover the magic of reading. The enthusiasm of our students has made this experience deeply rewarding.
Although I am leaving, I will always treasure the memories of the book parade, author visits, and the everyday moments of excitement when a student found “just the right book.” Thank you for allowing me to be part of this journey.
I would like to wish all students and their families a restful and enjoyable summer. I hope you find some great summer reads.
