"LANGWARRIN Park Primary School students donned beach gear last week as part of a campaign to highlight the importance of water safety.
The students took part in “Swim to School Week”. They spent the week learning dry-land water safety techniques, singing water-safety songs, and playing themed games.
Langwarrin Park Primary School principal Deb Haddow said “with a Kingswim pool onsite, the school offers two learn-to-swim programs each year and aims to build competency so that by Years 5 and 6, students can safely take part in Beach Days and water activities at Cable Park.”
“I strongly recommend schools get on board with Swim to School next year. It’s such a great opportunity to reinforce water safety for all ages in a fun way,” she said.
Kingswim general manager Rich Quail said “advocating for access to swim lessons and water safety is important year-round, particularly as families head to the water over summer.
“Kingswim is proud to champion Swim to School Week and help families with the information they need to keep their children and themselves safe around the water. Swimming lessons are important life skills and the best investment schools and families can make.”

Last Thursday, 11 December, we were delighted to welcome one of our Prep 3 parents, Kristy, into the classroom. Kristy kindly ran a yoga session with the children, guiding them through calming movements, stretches and breathing activities.
The students absolutely loved it! They were engaged, focused and had a wonderful time exploring mindfulness in a fun and active way. We are so grateful to Kristy for sharing her time and expertise with our class.
Thank you, Kristy, for helping make the end of term extra special for our Prep 3 students!

This year’s event was truly one to remember. For some families, it marked the end of a long and cherished tradition as they attended their final Sing-along after many years at our school. For others, it was the beginning of a new LPPS journey, experiencing their very first Sing-along with many more celebrations ahead. No matter where families were on their journey, the sense of community and joy filled the air.
We were delighted to welcome over 1,200 people! Families gathered on the oval with picnic rugs and big smiles, ready to sing along, laugh, and enjoy this much-loved end-of-year tradition. The atmosphere was full of colour, music and excitement as each year level took to the stage to perform their songs. The students sang their hearts out, danced proudly, and you could see how much work had gone on behind the scenes to make each performance shine.
A huge thank you to all our families for generously donating packets of Zooper Doopers for the children. These were a huge hit on such a warm day and added to the fun. We especially appreciate the School Council for taking on the enormous task of freezing every single one—your behind-the-scenes help does not go unnoticed.
We are also extremely grateful to our teachers and parent helpers and specifically Bluey and Mrs Pendelbury for their time, organisation and enthusiasm. From preparing students, setting up the space, running sound and supporting each performance, your hard work made the afternoon run smoothly.
And of course, our wonderful students deserve a round of applause. They practised tirelessly in their classrooms, worked together as teams, and performed with confidence and joy. We can all agree—they did a fabulous job!
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make this year’s Sing-A-Long such a memorable community event. We are already looking forward to next year!
