A Wrap Up from the Art Room
As we finish the year off with making the traditional ‘reindeer food’ next week, it is time to reflect on another busy year in the art room.
It has been wonderful watching the students get involved in so many different aspects of the art program this year, including
-Collaborative pieces for the office walkway
-The Picasso Cow Program
-Arts Festival
-Shared Stories Anthology
-Collaborative submission to the MACS 2026 Creative Arts Exhibition
-Year 6 legacy wall
-Advent display and artwork gifts for parishioners in the church
-Recent successful student submissions to the IN Magazine
I am excited for all that 2026 will bring, with a few new ideas and initiatives that I would like to try.
My sincere thanks to the Year 6 Art Leaders - Angelina, Clara, Chase, Keyla, Mary, Seb and Thomas for all their hard work and input this year.
Art Smocks
Art smocks will go home for washing and need to be returned next year and handed to class teachers for storage.
Donations
Please continue collecting soft plastic bottles for a new display next year. Please send bottles, washed and dried, to the office. Thanks to those who have sent some along already.
Butter and ice cream container lids are always handy, please put aside and send them to the art room.
School Production 2026
I would love to get an initial idea of any parents or carers who may be able to assist with sewing simple costumes for our production next year.
I am also reaching out to any families that may have a contact or be able to assist with providing us with some large sturdy cardboard panels to paint and use for our sets.
Please contact me at jbrown@spmentone.catholic.edu.au or see me in the art room if you think you may be able to assist.
Finally, it is great to see students getting inspired at home with their creativity. In the most recent edition of IN Magazine, it was a lovely surprise to see Charlotte Cole, Will Widlake and Cat Johnston’s work published! If kids are looking for inspiration over the holidays visit the following link to submit work into February’s edition.

In preparation for an art project early next year I am in need of as many plastic water bottles as possible. If you have any or use any in the coming weeks and over the summer break, could you please put them aside for me. Any size is fine and lids are not required. They will be cut so I can only accept the soft plastic bottles that bend/crush easily.
Thanks for the continued support this year.
Have a safe and lovely summer break,
Jen Brown
