Group 4

Group 4 has had such a fun time learning and growing together this year. We started the year as strangers and now we have a family in Group 4. It has been wonderful witnessing the developing friendships between the children and families.

This term, Group 4 has been involved in a variety of shared experiences such as small group shared reading, bubble incursion, sea animals’ incursion, sharing materials for play and activities. These experiences have fostered social skills of turn taking, sharing, collaborating and wanting to participate as a member of the group.

Over the year, the children have also familiarized themselves with their routine in school. In turn, they have been developing increasing independence during their routines. They demonstrated the three school expectations of doing their best, helping others succeed and respecting their environment. For example, the children will set up group circle, pack away activities, check schedule to transition between activities, put on their jackets, socks and shoes, eating with cutlery. Many of them enjoy identifying emotions and putting sunscreen on during group circle.

One of the greatest achievements for Group 4 this year is their communication skills. They can now confidently request using either visual aid, words and phrases. This has contributed significantly to their ability to regulate in times of frustration.

We are so proud of all that each one of them have achieved. What a pleasure it’s been to journey through this year with the children and families. Thank you for an amazing year. We will miss their cheerful faces as they run into the classroom every morning. We wish you a merry Christmas and Happy New Year. All the best in Prep, Group 4 😊
