Year 1/2 News

Learning Centre One
How is it possible that we’ve already reached the end of the school year? It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has passed and how much our students have grown in their knowledge and understanding. We are incredibly proud of the progress they’ve made and all the learning and development they’ve achieved throughout the year. We wish them every success as they move into Years 2 and 3, and we can’t wait to hear about all the wonderful things they accomplish.
Inquiry:
The students were given the opportunity to proudly showcase their learning during inquiry time, where they shared their completed booklets with other learning groups. They confidently explained what they had discovered about their chosen animal, demonstrating their research skills and depth of understanding. It was wonderful to see them reflect on their learning by sharing their favourite part of the work they had completed, celebrating both their effort and achievements.
Literacy:
In literacy, the students have explored a range of Christmas-themed texts while learning about procedure writing. Through these engaging activities, they have developed an understanding of how to sequence steps clearly, use time-order words, and write instructions that are easy for others to follow. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they applied these skills independently and proudly shared their work.
Maths:
In Maths, the students have been learning about data and graphs. They posed their own questions and collected a range of data to represent their findings using graphs. Through this process, students developed an understanding of how effective data collection supports clear conclusions and reflected on what their data revealed about their original questions.
