Thank you for your continued support this year and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Over the holidays the students will not have a school book to read however they are still encouraged to read occasionally to keep up their reading skills, ready for grade 1. This can be done with any books you have at home or from the library. Your child will still be able to access the Little Learners Love Literacy portal also.

Ask your child some questions before, during, and after a story to encourage them to think a bit deeper about the story.

Some questions you might use could include:

  • What do you think will happen in this story?
  • Who was your favorite character? Why?
  • How did the character feel in the story?
  • Did you like the way the story ended? Why/why not?

Congratulations to this week's superstar readers who received certificates for their nights of reading:

In week 10 we did some Christmas themed review on some of the maths topics we have learnt throughout the year.

Religion

To finish up Religion for the year, we finished our Advent wreaths adding the fourth candle- love onto our wreath. We learnt that Advent is a special time in the Church year that helps us get ready for Christmas. It begins four Sundays before Christmas Day and is a time for reflection, hope, and joyful preparation as we wait to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We finished this unit of Advent learning about the Nativity story (Christmas story).

Inquiry

Based on our incursions about animals our students have been learning about what animals need to survive, this includes what is in their individual habitats. Using this knowledge the students finished their animal habitats, making sure to include food, water and shelter into their habitats. They all did such a fantastic job!

Colour Run

On Friday we finally got to do our colour run. The students were so excited about the colour run asking about it in the lead up to the day. The students all came dressed in white and were so excited to see the bright colours. They loved running around on the sports oval and getting colourful as they ran around. They even got to see a few staff members they know get slimed. What a fun day!
