Dear Families and Students of OLSC

That's a Wrap for 2025

Thank you to all of the wonderful OLSC school community for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership throughout the year.  Your commitment to our children’s learning has helped them grow not only in knowledge and skills, but also in confidence, kindness, and faith.  We are grateful for the many achievements we have celebrated together, especially academic progress, creative expression - particularly evident in our school performance, sporting successes, and the moments of service and compassion that reflect our shared values.  The contribution by all in our community is what makes our school a truly special place for every child is valued.

Here's a Sneak Peek at the First 2 Weeks 2026

Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th January - Staff Resume School

Thursday 29th January - Preps 1st Day and Yr 1 to 6 Meet and Greets

Friday 30th January - Yr 1 to 6 Resume School

Student Leaders for 2026

Well done to all of the Year 5 students who put themselves forward for a student leader role in 2026.  In all, there were 69 students who applied for one or more of our student leader roles.  I would like to sincerely congratulate them all on their preparation, speech delivery and support of each other.  The students who did not receive a formal leadership role were very impressive in the way they handled their disappointment.  All students showed responsibility and resilience beyond their years.

Next year's School Captains are Sanuk and Saksham, and the Vice Captains are Alicia and Jaxon.  In a new tradition, these four new leaders got on the phone to share the news with their families following the announcement.

Senior Girls La Crosse

On Friday, a number of the girls from Years 5 and 6 competed in the divisional La Crosse.  They were great representatives of our school and took on this challenge in a very positive way.  The team were awarded the School Sport of Victoria, Spirit of Sport Award.  Well done to the girls and to Ben for his role as coach!   The message below is what Ben received from Kristen, Development Officer, La Crosse Victoria, regarding the impressive way the girls represented OLSC.

Hi Ben,

I am sorry I didn't get a chance to find you before you left. I have some fantastic news...Your team won the SSV Spirit Award for the Girls Division. Congratulations! You and the team were so supportive of each other, and the flexibility you and the team showed when several things didn't go as planned, was just amazing to see. You and the team should be very proud! If you have a photo from the day, I am happy to add it to our Website article if you send it through. If not, no worries. Jamie took the bannerette for you, so hopefully you will be able to get it off him soon.

Thanks again for all your support! And hopefully we will get to see you again next year.

All the best,

Kristen

Well Done Liliana

At the St Andrew's Parish Fair on Saturday, 22nd November, Liliana from Year 5 entered the singing competition and performed 'Tomorrow' from the musical Annie.  Liliana got first place and, from all accounts, did a great job.  Well done, Liliana, and thank you to the proud parents, Daniela and Andy, for sharing!

Hopefully, a few more of our talented OLSC students will have a go at next year's fair!

Thank You, Milla

Milla will be taking up a position of Visual Arts Teacher at Lollypop Creek Primary School in 2026.  Although none of us are glad to see her go, we wish her well as she pursues her passion for Visual Arts.

Milla joined our staff in 2023 and has occupied various roles in her time at OLSC.  She is a favourite among the students, and almost all students in the school have worked with Milla in some capacity.  While at OLSC, she has worked as a Learning Support Officer, Tutor, Intervention Teacher and has filled in across the school.  Her real talent has shone through in the times she has stepped in for Gloria in the teaching of Visual Arts.

Thank you, Milla, and although sad to see you go, we wish you well and know that this is the role you have wanted!

2025 Christmas Liturgy and Carols

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Christmas Liturgy and Carols event this morning.  A special shout-out to Leeza and Year 4 Blue for reading and performing at our liturgy.

An absolute highlight was the whole school singing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' in both Mandarin and English.  Well done, Fan.

Thanks to John Dini for today and all of the special events that he takes charge of and plans for OLSC.

Thank You and See You in 2026

As we come to the close of another busy yet rewarding school year,  on behalf of the OLSC staff and with great gratitude, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your ongoing support, trust, and partnership.

During this Holy and sacred season, we are reminded of the hope and peace that the birth of Jesus and the Christmas season bring us.

On behalf of the entire staff, we wish all our Catholic families a Merry Christmas and a safe, restful, and grace-filled holiday.  May the New Year bring continued blessings to you and your children, and we look forward to working with you in 2026.

Justin and all of the staff at OLSC
