Term 1 Primary Clubs
Lunchtime
Lunchtime clubs are an important way to improve inclusion, peer connections, and the development of social and emotional skills. Semi-structured activities which students opt into, organised around areas of interest, foster a sense of personal empowerment and a positive school climate. Typically, these clubs run for 20 minutes after eating time.
Before-School
Before-school clubs are targeted at individual students and support Literacy and Numeracy development. They are invite-only and offer small-group instruction to those students who we feel will benefit from more targeted support. These clubs run for 30 minutes, from 7:45 to 8:15am. Should we feel that your child would benefit from before-school support, you will receive an email inviting them to attend.
After-School
After-school clubs offer academic enrichment and are open to interested students. They enhance the experience for students beyond the standard curriculum, broadening their intellectual or creative horizons and allowing them to develop and explore skills which stimulate their curiosity and foster a love of learning. After-school clubs require parents to sign their children up with the teacher in charge.
Homework Club
Homework Club is open to students from Year 1 and operates in two locations. Parents must book their child in for homework club through student services and contact student services if they no longer need the service.
Years 1 to 3 are met at Circular Drive and supervised in the Primary Tech lab until 4:30pm. Homework Club in Years 1 to 3 is tech-free, so teachers set learning tasks which do not require a device. Once homework is finished, activities such as Lego building are on offer.
Students in Years 4 to 6 meet in the Lower LRC no later than 3:15pm and are supervised until 5:00pm. Students in Years 4 to 6 must have their homework tasks written in their diary, particularly if they involve technology. Both ages will begin with time to eat a small snack while roll is taken.
Primary Clubs commence in Week 3. See the below the Primary Clubs schedule for Term 1. Please note that some clubs have a sign-up or booking requirement, which must be completed before attending.
'Pal’entine’s Day – Henderson House Fundraiser
On 14 February, Henderson House will be hosting ‘Pal’entine’s Day’ in support of MS Queensland. MS Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering researchers in their mission to treat, prevent, and cure Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well as supporting those in our community affected by this disease.
MS is a chronic neurological condition that affects over 25,000 Australians, and through our contributions, we hope to make a positive impact. To show your support, students can wear red accessories on the day. Additionally, there will be a bake sale during lunch for secondary students. We encourage everyone to participate and help raise awareness for this important cause. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Please see the link below for more information about MS Australia.
All students are invited to wear a red accessory on 'Pal’entine’s Day, with full school uniform. Please note, students do not need to bring a gold coin donation for this day. If you would like to donate online, however, please follow the link below.
