Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
What a settled and engaged start to the 2025 school year we have enjoyed! It has been an exciting first term filled with wonderful experiences, learning opportunities, and plenty of memorable moments. Our students have truly embraced the start of this school year with enthusiasm and dedication.
There have been a number of highlights this term including:
- Interschool Sports: Our students represented the school with great pride in the Year 6 interschool sports competitions and swimming carnivals. It was fantastic to see such teamwork and sportsmanship on display across the various events.
- NAPLAN: Our Year 3 & 5 students participated in NAPLAN, demonstrating their commitment to their learning. We are incredibly proud of their efforts.
- Excursions & Incursions: Students had the opportunity to take part in both excursions and incursions, which provided valuable hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom. These activities enhanced their understanding of the topics being studied and allowed them to connect with the world outside school.
- Prep Welcome Picnic: The Prep Welcome Picnic was a wonderful way to introduce our youngest learners and their families to the school community.
- Sacrament of Reconciliation: Our Year 3 students celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation this term, marking an important milestone in their spiritual journey. It was a beautiful occasion that brought together families, students, and staff in a meaningful way.
- School Fair: What a highlight of our Term! Our community fair was an incredible success in bringing our community together and raising much needed funds for our continued capital works. Thank you to our community for your support in making this event such a success.
- Celebration of Learning: What a wonderful way to end the the term and acknowledge our students' hard work and achievements so far this year. Thank you to the families who were able to join us yesterday afternoon.
A special congratulations goes out to our Foundation students, who have completed their very first term of primary school! They have settled in beautifully, made new friends, and embraced the exciting challenges of school life with enthusiasm. We are so proud of everything they have achieved in their first term and look forward to seeing them grow throughout the year.
As we approach the end of Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated teachers, staff, and families for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community. We are looking forward to another fantastic term ahead! Term 2 is always action packed so be sure to check the 'Important Dates' page of our Newsletter to keep up to date with what's on.
At school this week we celebrate the most sacred time in our church calendar, Holy Week.
One man stands with honour and integrity as others humiliate and insult Him.
He chooses non-violence while others beat and torture Him.
With His last breath, He forgives instead of curses.
Think about how He has served you and where you can serve others in His name.
I wish you and your family a joyous and blessed Easter and a safe and restful school holidays.
