Hello Roxburgh Homestead Community,

Firstly, I’d like to thank all the parents who have gone out of their way to help make me feel welcome here at our school. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and warmth displayed by so many of our families throughout the first week – I can already tell that I am going to enjoy working with you all to best support the children.

Speaking of which, I couldn’t be happier with how all students have begun the school year. Whether it is in the classroom or the yard, our students are showing a great attitude towards each other and their learning. It is clear that there are some fantastic connections forming between them and their new teachers. An early focus for me is on the concept of mutual respect and ensuring that learning spaces are calm, orderly, and engaging for everyone. So far, I’m proud of all the hard work from our staff who have made sure that the year has started off on the right note.

With regards to our staff, I’ve been impressed in my time so far with how supportive and welcoming they all are. Though you  will have a formal opportunity to sit down with your child’s teachers during our ‘Meet the Teacher’ Day on February 26th, now is a good time to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher before or after school to put a name to a face, if you have not been able to do so already. Having a strong relationship between school staff and parents is so important, so building these connections as soon as possible is always a good thing. After all, both families and our staff are working hard every single day towards the same goal – helping our students develop into fantastic, curious, and intelligent young people.

That’s all from me for the first week back. If you haven’t had a chance to say hello yet, please don’t hesitate to do so. You can spot me in the yard before and after school – I am the tall guy with the glasses, you can’t miss me!

Kind Regards,

Brock Wilson
