Spotlight on Learning - Room 1

Wow! What a sensational start to the school year in Room 1.
We have been hard at work, developing and improving our fine motor skills while cutting, colouring, and creating pieces of work that share information about us. Snapshots showing our favourites, all about me trees, and even ice-cream names – this really is going to be the sweetest year yet!
We have also focused on what we want our classroom to look like, feel like, and sound like. We have read lots of picture books about school and recorded what we like and don’t like from each book. Next week, we will use these ideas to co-create our classroom expectations.
In the afternoons after finishing our learning, we have been engaging in a range of play-based learning activities. The coffee shop has been a popular choice with children adopting a role of barista, server, or customer. It can be tricky at times to negotiate who takes on what role while playing but has helped us to practice different sharing and conflict resolution strategies.
I can’t wait to see all that the children in room 1 (and 2) accomplish over the coming months and year.
