Principal's Message

What a busy start to the year we’ve had, welcoming new students and new staff and starting the year with a Year 10 Applied Learning Program at our Coburg campus following a successful pilot program in the second half of last year. With 2025 a review year - part of the four-year school review process - comes a a renewed sense of purpose. It’s been a hectic few months, but we’ve already accomplished so much and have set the stage for a productive year ahead.

Our students have embraced their new classes with enthusiasm. The school has welcomed new staff and new students and, in classrooms, there has been a focus building strong routines for success. We’ve seen many positive moments of growth, with students engaging in new challenges and collaborating with their peers. Our staff continues to inspire and guide our students through creative, meaningful lessons as well as offering an expanding range of lunchtime clubs and activities that add to the cultural life of the school.

In addition to academics, extracurricular activities are off to a fantastic start. From groups building scarecrows for the Melbourne Flower Show, to students participating in the first adventure activity as part of the WILD Program, there’s a strong sense of involvement and school spirit. It’s truly heartening to witness students expressing themselves in such a variety of ways, and I encourage everyone to get involved in at least one activity this term.

As always, our school community remains a key priority. Students and staff are reminded of our school values: learning, opportunity, respect and safety. We need to continue to focus on fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for all members of our community and ensure that we are all contributing to a space where people feel physically and psychologically safe. Part of strengthening a positive school culture is the recent establishment of an Student Representative Council. Its establishment augments the existing student representation already on School Council and will begin meeting several times per term beginning in Term 2. I look forward to working with the SRC this year to enhance the school environment and to improve the outcomes for students.

Looking ahead, we will continue to build on the momentum of the past few years. As a school review year, there is much reflection and renewal that will come about, and I’m confident we will achieve great things together. Thank you to everyone for your dedication and support—here’s to an outstanding year!
