Year 10 Work Experience
A reminder to students with upcoming work experience
In Year 10 our career education is focused on enhancing student’s confidence in the workplace and exploring the pathways to tertiary study and careers. A highlight of our program is when our Year 10 students participate in one week of Work Experience. Work Experience is the short-term placement for secondary school students, that provides a valuable opportunity to gain insight into a specific industry and workplace. From this program our students will:
• develop employability skills
• explore possible career options
• understand employer expectations
• increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.
In 2025 our Year 10 Work Experience program will take place from Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July (Week 11, Term 2).
In our Semester 1 Career Education lessons a significant amount of time will be dedicated to ensuring our students feel safe and prepared for this learning opportunity. Students will be provided with a copy of the relevant arrangement forms in their first lesson and supported through this process. Please return all signed Work Experience forms to the administration office by Thursday 3 April.
Students are encouraged to begin thinking about where they would be interested in going for this five-day experience and to start networking with potential workplace supervisors. If guardians could please support conversations about the benefits that come from stepping out of your comfort zone and using this time to explore a possible career it would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions about this program please contact Mrs Melissa McMurray (Leading Teacher- Careers and Pathways) or Mrs Mandy Kortholt (Careers Administrator).
