From our Well Being Team

Student Voice

At Greenwith Primary School, we recognise the importance of authentic student voice and agency. Empowering students to express their ideas and participate in decision-making fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility. It enhances their confidence, encourages creativity, and helps develop leadership skills. By involving students in shaping their school environment, we create a more inclusive and engaging community.

This term, our focus has been on enhancing the school through student voice initiatives. We engaged all classes to brainstorm ideas for school improvements. With the help of student leaders, we categorised these ideas into "now improvements" and "soon improvements."

For the "now improvements," we are looking into several exciting initiatives. These include getting an outdoor speaker for music during breaks, acquiring new sandpit toys, updating the songs for the school bell, organising more fundraisers, and displaying student artwork around the school. These changes aim to enrich the daily experience for all students.

Looking ahead, the "soon improvements" involve more ambitious projects to be further investigated. Some of the student ideas have been creating additional shaded areas, expanding food choices in the canteen, and offering more sports clinics. Other ideas include creating more indoor play during breaks, providing tree climbing and rock-climbing walls, and adding more outdoor seating for comfort.

We are actively working on improvements for the grass triangle. This includes ordering new equipment and designing activity posters, with the goal of completing these enhancements by the end of the term. These efforts reflect our student’s commitment to making Greenwith Primary School a more engaging and enjoyable place for everyone.
