Reading in the Holidays

We would love all our Meadowbank students to continue reading over the holidays. Students can borrow books from our school library this week and keep them over the holidays. While Meadowbank School library is closed over the holidays, we encourage all our students and families to visit our local libraries and continue borrowing and reading books.

City of Ryde - Libraries

Our City of Ryde Library branches include Ryde Library, West Ryde Library, North Ryde Library, Eastwood Library and Gladesville Library. Membership to all the branches is free, and the libraries often run fun and educational events throughout the holidays and year. Check the local library website for details: https://www.ryde.nsw.gov.au/Library/Something-for-Everyone/Children/School-Holiday-Program

Pamela Allen exhibition at the State Library

Students in Kindergarten enjoyed listening to books written by author Pamela Allen during shared reading in Terms 1 & 2. The State Library of NSW is currently holding an exhibition titled ‘The Curious World of Pamela Allen’ which showcases her works: ‘Whether you grew up with Pamela Allen or are discovering her for the first time, The Curious World of Pamela Allen is a joyful celebration of storytelling, creativity and the magic of books’. We have 37 books written by Pamela Allen in our school library for students to enjoy. The State Library, located in the city, also offers a variety of free and ticketed activities for children and families during the school holidays. Stationery items could not be ordered online, so students who included them on their order forms will receive a refund. Additionally, students who ordered books that were out of stock will also receive a refund. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

We wish all our students and Meadowbank families a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
