Principal's Report

Dear Wimba Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into November! The energy and excitement around the school continue to be incredible, and I couldn’t be prouder of our students, staff, and wider community for the spirit of learning, leadership, and togetherness we’re building here at Wimba Primary School.
Curriculum Day Reminder – Monday, 3rd November
A friendly reminder that Monday, 3rd November will be a Student-Free Curriculum Day.Our dedicated staff will be using this time to focus on Semester Two report writing — reflecting on each child’s progress and growth throughout the year.
If your child requires care on this day, please contact Kelly Club, our before and after-school care provider, to make a booking.
This day will be followed by the Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday on Tuesday, 4th November. We hope all families enjoy a well-earned long weekend — the perfect opportunity to rest, relax, and recharge for the final stretch of Term 4!
🎤 A Spectacular Celebration of Youth Leadership – TEDx TarneitYouth!
Last week, Wimba Primary was proud to take part in the TEDx TarneitYouth event, hosted by Barayip Primary School in collaboration with Warreen Primary and our very own Wimba students.
The day was nothing short of inspiring — a festival of youth leadership, courage, and creativity! Sixteen students from Years 4 to 6 took to the stage to deliver TEDx-style talks on topics that truly matter: bullying, racism, environmental care, mental health, family connections, and so much more.
Inaya Matta – “The Call from the Animals” – a heartfelt message to protect wildlife.
Harleen Kaur – “How to Deal with Bullying” – practical tips for standing tall.
Liza Ahmed – “Attention is Our Superpower” – the importance of focus and mindfulness. Avikaar Avikaar – “Family Matters” – celebrating family bonds and support.
Maanika Kaur – “Jobs That Last, Skills That Lift” – future-proofing learning and careers.
The audience included Joanna Ryan MP, school improvement leaders, principals, teachers, and families — all cheering on our students as they shared their big ideas with the world.
This event, led by Nicole O’Brien (Barayip Primary), Joanna Stanford (Warreen Primary), and myself, with the support of our leadership teams — Punsala Crofton, Jessica Todio, Jessica Lewis, and Toan Phan — was a celebration of community collaboration and the power of student voice. It reminded us all that the future is already here — bold, bright, and ready to lead!
World Teachers’ Day – Thank You, Team Wimba!
This Thursday, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day — a special time to recognise and thank the incredible educators who make Wimba Primary such a wonderful place to learn.
To all our teachers: thank you for your passion, commitment, and care. You bring your best to work every single day and continue to make a profound difference in the lives of our students. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed — you are the heart of our school! 💚
2026 Foundation Transition Program
We were thrilled to welcome our newest little learners today for the first session of our 2026 Foundation Transition Program! The excitement was contagious as our new students stepped into the classroom, met their teachers, and began to learn the Wimba way — with smiles, curiosity, and confidence.
A big thank you to Mrs. Kuslucali and our amazing Foundation Team for their preparation, energy, and warmth in making these sessions so welcoming.
Our next 2026 Transition Session will take place on Thursday, 6th November.Families with children starting school in 2026 are encouraged to get enrolment forms in as soon as possible so they can take part in these wonderful sessions.
2026 Enrolments & Grade Placements
As we continue planning for the 2026 school year, we ask that families please notify the school if your child will not be returning to Wimba Primary next year. This helps us plan classes, staffing, and resources effectively.
Families with younger siblings starting Foundation in 2026 are reminded to submit enrolment forms as a priority, as our transition program is already underway. To start school in 2026, children must turn five years old by 30 April 2026.
When forming 2026 classes, our staff work carefully to create balanced, supportive learning environments. While we cannot accommodate specific parent requests for teachers or friendship groups, we ensure every child is thoughtfully placed with familiar peers and compatible learning partners.
Our class placements consider:
✅ Gender balance
✅ Academic and wellbeing needs
✅ Social and behavioural compatibility
✅ Opportunities to strengthen friendships and build new ones
Each class is reviewed by teaching teams, specialist staff, education support staff, and school leadership to ensure the best fit for every child.
We know this process matters deeply to families, and we appreciate your trust as we work to create classes where every child can thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the final weeks of the term, there’s so much to celebrate — from the achievements of our students and staff to the community partnerships that make Wimba Primary so special.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Together, we are living our school values of Excellence, Community, Happiness, and Integrity every day.
Have a wonderful week, enjoy the long weekend, and as always — thank you for being part of the Wimba family.
Warm regards,
Paul Schwartz
