Getting Back into the Routine of School

As we settle back into the rhythm of a new term, it’s essential to remember that routines play a significant role in supporting our students' well-being. Consistent sleep, healthy meals, and predictable morning routines help children feel calm, organised, and ready to learn. A clear routine reduces stress, helps children manage their time, and supports positive behaviour both at home and at school.

Returning to school can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially after a break. Children may need a little extra encouragement to get back into good habits, such as packing their

bags, arriving on time, or focusing on their learning tasks. Taking a few moments each day to discuss what went well at school or what they’re looking forward to the next day can build confidence and help them feel secure.

Families can support this transition by maintaining regular bedtime and morning routines, setting aside time for homework and reading, and encouraging healthy snacks and physical activity. Celebrating small successes, like remembering to bring a library book or completing a task independently, can motivate children and reinforce positive habits.

By re-establishing routines at home and school, we help children feel secure, confident, and connected, ready to embrace another great term of learning and growth. With a little patience and consistency, students can quickly adjust and thrive, making the most of their school experience both academically and emotionally.
