World Mental Health Day – A Message from the Wellbeing Captains

Friday 10/10 is World Mental Health Day, a time to remind everyone how important it is to look after our minds and our hearts. At Robbie Mac, we believe that mental health matters for everyone, including students, teachers, and families.

This week, our buddy classes are focusing on activities that help us understand what mental health means, how to be kind to ourselves and others, and how to support our wellbeing every day.

Looking after mental health does not have to be big or complicated. It is about small things that help us feel calm, happy, and connected.

Here are some simple strategies for families and children to try at home:

For Families:

• Eat meals together and talk about your day.

• Try to keep regular routines for sleep, meals, and screen time.

• Go for walks or spend time outdoors as a family.

• Practice gratitude together by sharing one thing you are thankful for each day.

• Listen to each other without judgment and celebrate small wins.

For Kids:

• Take deep breaths when you feel worried or upset.

• Spend time doing things you enjoy such as drawing, reading, or playing outside.

• Talk to someone you trust if something is bothering you.

• Do something kind for a friend or family member.

• Remember that everyone feels sad or stressed sometimes and it is okay to ask for help.

We hope World Mental Health Day reminds everyone to take care of themselves and the people around them. A small act of kindness, a smile, or a short conversation can make a big difference.

Let’s continue to look after ourselves and each other, not just today but every day.

With kindness,

London and Elsie
