As mentioned in last week's Compass notification, the Wheelers Hill Primary School Council was seeking nominations for four parent vacancies. We would like to thank the following parents who nominated:
Nishi Panesar Harcharan Singh
Since the number of nominations matches the number of vacancies, no election is required. These parents are appointed to the School Council for a 2-year term. Thank you for your interest in the school, and we look forward to your contributions on the School Council.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Morteza Taherian and Eehui Lim who have finished their time on school council. We truly appreciate the time and effort each of you has dedicated to the school.
School photos will be taken on Thursday 12th March. Students are expected to be in full school uniform on the day. If families are in need of a new uniform, they can be purchased via PSW either online or in-store at their Glen Waverley outlet.
February 18th to 20th March is Ramadan and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Ramadan concludes with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which culminates in a celebratory feast as families gather to mark the end of fasting. Over the school term, many of our families will be observing Ramadan and the school is mindful of the challenges that young children can face throughout this time. Please advise your child’s teacher if this is the case.
Just a reminder that Friday 20th March is a curriculum day. On this day the teachers will be planning ahead for Term 2. Students ARE NOT required at school. Our OSHC program will be running a program so please contact them if you require care.
Just a reminder, the oval and playgrounds behind the Year 2 classrooms are OUT OF BOUNDS for parents and students BEFORE school. AFTER school children may be on the oval or playground as long as THIER parent is present to supervise. Please do not allow your children to play on the oval or playgrounds at this time unless you are watching them.
From 2026, assemblies will no longer be streamed via Webex. All assemblies will be held on the oval or in the gym, every fortnight on Fridays at 2:00pm. The future dates of assemblies for the remainder of Term 1 are below:
*Friday 13th March - Peer Mediator Badge Presentation
*Friday 27th March
*Thursday 2nd April at 9am (Harmony Day)
It is wonderful to see so many students riding their bikes and scooters to school. We strongly support this as it promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. However, for safety reasons, bikes and scooters must not be ridden within the school grounds at any time, including before and after school. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
The last day of term is onThursday 2nd April. Please note the earlier finish time of 2:30pm. The day after is is the Good Friday public holiday. The first day back of Term 2 is Monday 20th April. The OSHC program will release their holiday program of activities soon.
