Principal Message

Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready

What a joyful and grace-filled beginning we have shared as a school community!

On Shrove Tuesday, our Family Pancake Night brought together students, families, staff and parishioners in a wonderful celebration of community. Despite the inclement weather, our school was filled with warmth, laughter and the delicious aroma of freshly cooked pancakes. It was truly heartening to see so many families come along, embracing the spirit of togetherness that makes Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School such a special place.

Shrove Tuesday reminds us of the call to prepare our hearts for the sacred season of Lent. As we shared food and fellowship, we were also sharing in something deeper: a spirit of generosity, welcome and unity. The evening was a beautiful example of what it means to be a Catholic faith community.

We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, whose generosity of time, organisation and care made this event possible. From planning and preparation to cooking and serving, their efforts ensured the evening ran so smoothly. We are truly blessed by staff who go above and beyond to nurture not only the learning of our students, but also the spirit of our community.

It was also especially lovely to welcome members of our parish who joined us for the evening. Their presence strengthened the bonds between our school and parish, reminding us that we are one faith community journeying together.

Today, we gathered again for our Beginning of Year Mass on Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. Thank you to all families and parishioners who attended and prayed with us. Receiving the ashes and hearing the blessing spoken that Jesus loves us was a powerful reminder that Christ walks with us in every new beginning. It was a reverent and hopeful way to commence our school year, placing all that we do under God’s guidance and grace.

As we continue through this Lenten season, may we carry forward the spirit of fellowship we experienced on Pancake Night and the prayerful reflection of our Ash Wednesday Mass. Thank you to our entire community for your presence, your involvement and your commitment to making our school a vibrant, faith-filled place.

May Our Lady Star of the Sea guide and protect us throughout the year ahead.

Warm regards,

Pamela McKillop
