International Women's Day
This Sunday, 8 March, is International Women’s Day—a global celebration recognising the achievements, talents, and contributions of women and girls everywhere. It also serves as an important reminder of the values of fairness, respect, and equal opportunities for all members of our community.
The day encourages young girls to believe in their abilities, speak with confidence, and dream boldly about their futures. When girls are supported to grow into strong, capable leaders, we help create a world where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Empowering picture storybooks such as Ada Twist, Scientist, Dear Girl, and The Paper Bag Princess play a meaningful role in this message. Through strong, relatable female characters, these stories promote confidence, leadership, and resilience. They challenge stereotypes and inspire girls to be adventurous, curious, and authentically themselves.
