It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks for our Foundation students.

We’ve enjoyed plenty of hands-on learning, took part in Clean Up Australia Day, and FB & FH had the exciting opportunity to participate in a special karate session!

Level 1 students have had a wonderfully busy and engaging fortnight, filled with learning that has stretched their thinking, creativity, and confidence.

A big focus in our classroom has been learning to take responsibility for our actions, and students have explored this through role‑playing scenarios. They acted out everyday situations, discussed the choices we make, and reflected on how our actions affect others.

In writing, students have been studying the classic tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After exploring the original version, they planned and wrote their own imaginative twist—this time, the bears were the ones causing chaos in Goldilocks’ house. Students loved flipping the story around and using descriptive language to bring their mischievous characters to life.

Maths has been full of energy and hands‑on fun.

We have been practising skip counting through songs, chalk patterns in the courtyard, and using calculators to explore number sequences. Students have also been strengthening their understanding of place value using materials such as MAB blocks and unifix cubes, as well as playing games that build confidence and number sense in an enjoyable way.

A highlight of the fortnight has been the beginning of our gymnastics program!

Students have embraced the mini‑tramps, balance beam, and bars with enthusiasm, challenging themselves, cheering on their classmates, and celebrating their achievements.

It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explore new skills and movements.

Our Level 2 students have been busy exploring both the skies above and new skills on the ground!

As part of science inquiry, students have been moon gazing and observing the recent planetary alignment, sparking lots of curiosity and thoughtful discussions about space. Many students were also excited to learn about the Blood Moon, sharing their observations and asking wonderful questions about why the Moon changes in appearance. We made our own moon sliders, showing the different phases of the moon. Alongside this, students have been developing their physical skills in gymnastics, working on balance, strength and coordination while showing great perseverance and teamwork. It’s been a fantastic blend of scientific discovery and active learning!

Our Level 3 students have had a busy and exciting few weeks.

We were lucky enough to participate in a hockey clinic where students were introduced to a range of hockey skills. It was wonderful to see everyone giving things a go, encouraging one another and building their confidence as they developed new skills.

Our students also took part in Clean Up Australia day, where they learned about the importance of caring for our environment. As a cohort, we worked together to help keep our school grounds clean by picking up rubbish in the local community.

In class, we have been focusing on what it means to be responsible.

We have explored how responsibility looks in the classroom, in the playground, at home and in our wider community.

Level 4 students have had a busy and exciting fortnight, full of creativity, curiosity, and teamwork!

One of the highlights was our Big Write session, based on the prompt Special Delivery.

We started the activity with a mysterious letter from an unknown sender and a hidden parcel somewhere in the school yard. Students were buzzing with excitement as they searched for the parcel and imagined what could be inside. This sparked some fantastic narrative writing, with students sharing adventurous and imaginative stories about the special delivery. Their use of descriptive language and engaging story openings really made their writing come alive!

We also got hands-on for Clean Up Australia Day.

Level 4 students visited the Scotchmans Creek Trail at Jells Park to pick up rubbish and learn about looking after our environment. On the way back, we extended our efforts to the school grounds, collecting litter and pulling weeds from the garden beds outside 4A and 4G. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, the garden bed is now cleared and ready for use. It was great to see students taking pride in caring for both the school and the wider community.

We’re so proud of how Level 4 students have shown our school values of excellence, resilience, and respect this fortnight. We can’t wait to see what adventures and learning the next fortnight will bring!

Our Level 5 Camp to Portsea was an unforgettable adventure filled with excitement, teamwork, and breathtaking scenery.

Students had the opportunity to try a range of thrilling activities, including snorkelling in the clear coastal waters, sea kayaking along the shoreline, and challenging themselves on the giant swing and high ropes course.

Each activity encouraged confidence, cooperation, and resilience as everyone stepped outside their comfort zones. Alongside the action-packed program, the camp also offered a beautiful view of the surrounding coastline, making it a perfect setting for both adventure and reflection.

It was a fantastic experience that created many lasting memories for all involved.

Last week the Level 6 students went to the Moorabbin Air Museum.

Students had the opportunity to explore a range of different aircrafts and even had the chance to climb into an old police helicopter. Students learnt so much about the design process and how materials have changed over time.

They will use this knowledge to help them create their Egg Scenery and contraptions for the Egg Drop Project.
