Principal's Report
By Carolyn Serpell & Dave Fraser
Thank you to everyone who made time to attend a parent teacher meeting this week. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, please contact the office, to arrange an alternate time.
Following last week's election process, on Monday we announced the new Student Representative Council (SRC). Congratulations to Queenie, Harry, Jarrah, Archie, Miranda, Leo, Banjo and Reuben on being selected for this role. We are looking forward to supporting students, as they develop their understanding of what makes a good leader and work together to promote our values and student voice.

Congratulations also to our new and returning school council members. As a result of the recent nomination process, I am pleased to announce that Jess Wadeson, Duanne Sigmund, Heath Matheson, Liz Ingram and Nicole Kilgour will return for a further term, joined by new members Melanie Barton and Dave Fraser. While the official nominations for School Council Elections have now closed, we still have one parent vacancy. If you are interested in joining our council, please contact the office or email Carolyn.
Today, 8 students in Years 4-6 participated in the Upper Hume Division Swim event. Congratulations to Chili, Gen, Queenie, Goldie, Miranda, Harry, Loki and Leo on their participation and achievement. We look forward to hearing how each of you went in the pool, when we see you at assembly on Monday morning.
Many thanks to Steph, for her organisation and time liaising with the cluster schools, and to all attending parents for their support with transport and supervision.
This year, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will be held from 11-23 March. During this time, students in Years 3 and 5 will complete assessments in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
In addition to providing an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests, NAPLAN tests are also used as a measure of school performance. If you have any concerns, or do not want your child to participate in the assessments, please speak to Dave or myself before next Friday 6th March.
Following last week's exciting shout out from local athletes (and now commentator) Britt Cox and Phil Bellingham, Steph sent some photos and messages of support to Phil from our Year 6 class.
He replied:
"This is awesome, thanks for sending this through, I'm definitely feeling the love over here, I appreciate it a lot!"
Thank you Phil! Your words and actions have inspired our students.
A reminder that on Tuesday 10th March, we will have a pupil free day to enable staff to attend a network professional learning day. OSHC will be running for families who require this service, and bookings are essential. Bookings may be submitted via the link on the OSHC page of this newsletter.
This year's school photos will be taken on Wednesday 25th March. Orders will be open from Monday 2nd March, via the Compass app, though until the 31st March. For more information, please refer to the School Photos page.
The March 2026 Outside School Hours Care program will focus on themed weeks, building social connections and outdoor activities as children continue to settle into the new school year. Key themes for March include superhero week, Harmony Week activities and Big Art Fridays.
Next week's program includes making obstacle courses outside. This will promote physical health, confidence and problem solving through activities like crawling, climbing and balancing. During Big Art Fridays there will be opportunities for spray painting, water balloon painting and marble painting. This will come together to form a collective mixed media art gallery.
OSHC Bookings are essential, so please contact our service for more details, or lodge your booking through the OSHC page of this newsletter.
We are holding a fundraiser to purchase some new sports equipment. Click here to view and order the selection of bulbs available. 40% of all money raised goes to the school and bulbs are delivered to your door anywhere in Australia. Orders close on the 27th of March, so if you have any gifts to send or need some colour popping up in your garden this spring, please consider this to support our school.
