Principal Update

Message from the Principal
Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of formally sharing our 2026 Annual Implementation Plan with the entire P&C Committee this week, outlining our key improvement priorities and focus areas as we continue delivering Brighter Futures for every student connected to Balmoral.
This year, we have set high expectations around learning, connection, and targeted support. Our collective commitment is clear: every student will be known, challenged, and supported to achieve their personal best.
A continued priority in 2026 is strengthening digital capability across the school. Students are reminded to bring their device to school fully charged each day to ensure seamless access to OneNote, digital textbooks, learning platforms, and Microsoft Teams. Digital tools are not an add-on; they are embedded in our learning design to enhance critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Supporting students to navigate these platforms confidently and responsibly is central to our contemporary learning outlook across the school.
Next week, I am particularly excited to formally induct our Year 12 student leaders and badge our Agency, Belonging and Innovation Prefects, alongside our School Captains and Junior Captain Student Support Team. We are anticipating a record number of families in attendance, along with several local primary school Principals and their School Captains. This speaks strongly to the growing influence of student leadership at Balmoral and the culture our students are shaping.
Attendance remains one of our most important drivers of engagement, connection and belonging. Our 95% attendance benchmark continues to guide our work, and I thank families for proactively communicating reasons for absences and supporting their children to attend every possible day. Each lesson matters.
Where attendance falls below our benchmark, our Engagement Heads of Department will continue to work closely with students and families to remove barriers and strengthen support.
Thank you for another positive and purposeful week at Balmoral. The consistency of effort from our students, staff and families continues to build momentum as we progress through Term 1.
Regards,
Timothy Barraud
Principal
