Year 9 Sculpture

Creating a face with wire

For our first CAT in sculpture, our class was taking inspiration from various artists who had created wire sculptures, including Alexander Calder, Shelli Markee, and Spenser Little. We were studying the ways that they utilised different elements and principles in their work such as shape, space, repetition, and balance. This helped us to plan and design our own wire sculpture of a face, incorporating these techniques into the design.

When we started work on the construction of our final piece, we used different types of wires to create variations in the structure of the face, experimenting with different methods which allowed us to create unique and aesthetically pleasing pieces.
