Term 1 - Week 10

Welcome to Week 10,

After having the opportunity to pause and engage in significant personal reflection during the Sacred Paschal Triduum, our school community reconvened on Tuesday for the final sprint of Term 1 2024. As always, Term 1 2024 has brought with it complexities as our staff work diligently to create safe and engaged learning spaces for our students to enjoy.

In acknowledging the complexities faced each day, having the opportunity to educate the future of our nation is a wonderful honor. At St Nicholas School we are incredibly humbled by this responsibility and thank our parents for trusting St Nicholas School to work in partnership with them in developing ‘literate and numerate students with a hope filled future’.

Term 1 has been highlighted by:

  • Our Opening School Mass:  9th February
  • Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day): 13th February
  • Ash Wednesday Mass: 14th February
  • PT&F Welcome BBQ: 16th February
  • Our annual Swimming Carnival: 19th February
  • Parent Information Evening: 21st February
  • The St Nicholas PT&F AGM: 26th February

  • Whole school Stations of the Cross: 28th March

Even while referencing these highlights, I am most pleased with the fact nothing has distracted our staff from our core business. Term 1 has seen St Nicholas School staff incredibly focused on improving each student's faith, learning and wellbeing outcomes. This has been achieved through staff working as a part of a high functioning team of educators who believe every child can learn if they are provided the right tools and conditions.

Term 1 has, and continues to be, incredibly busy. It is a term however when I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be surrounded by quality human beings who are exceptional educators. Like any school, St Nicholas School is not perfect. I am however incredibly proud to be principal of St Nicholas School where I get to witness our system's mission in action every day - as our vision comes closer to being a reality.
