Year 1 & 2

In Writing lessons students have been writing a recount about the school holidays. We have been learning the difference between nouns and verbs. In Reading lessons students have been learning about Australian animals and writing information reports. 

During our Maths lessons, we have been playing games to reinforce our knowledge of Place Value. We used ‘spike abacus’ to model numbers in a different way. On Friday we read a story about a grandpa with a long red scarf. We represented these scarves with red streamers and we compared the different lengths.

In Wellbeing lessons students made headbands to show they are friendship ninjas! They discussed what qualities are important to have in a friendship.

For History lessons, students have been sharing photos they have brought from home with the class. 

Here are some excerpts from holiday recounts:

1/2A:

Aurora: My mum, my dad and Kaden and 1 other family went to Queensland. I went on rides in Dreamworld and Seaworld.

Amelia: I went to Holey Moley with Harvey and Lenny. Holey Moley is a mini golf place. On Friday, we had to go because our mums and dads were at work. I had lots of fun!

Jakob: I went to the Melbourne Museum with my Nanna and Zak. We went on the holidays. We went on a train and tram. It took for ages to get there. It was a surprise. We saw dinosaurs and it was so much fun!

1/2B:

Elijah: I went to my Grandma’s house and to Maddi’s house. My Aunty had a baby before the holidays. So every week I see the baby. It’s name is Winona. 

Dante: “Yay!” I said when my parents told me about my Grandma’s daughter’s son’s birthday party. He was turning one and his name is Banjo. There were 35 people there. It took two hours to get to the party in Geelong.

Isaac: It was the most fun holiday ever! It was a bit relaxing but we went camping! It was really really fun. We went swimming in the lake and the pool and there was also a spa. 

1/2C:

Ashton M:  My dad and my brother Lachie and I went to Hudson’s brother’s football game at Mullum oval because I wanted to watch the footy.

Jett: On the holidays I went to Time Zone with Kiara, Tahlia, Mum, Dad, Zane and me. We played lots of arcade games. We played Connect 4 with basketball. I won three gams and then Zane won.

Aubrey: I had the best holiday at the aquarium with my family, and I had the best time. My favourite was the starfish and the clownfish.  

Chelsea: I had the best holiday because we went to Bemm River with my cousins. It took six hours to get there. I had so much fun going fishing with my cousins. My cousin Jack caught two fish and one fish was nibbling on my rod but I did not catch it. We had the best night fishing.
